At its core yoga is the practice of bringing the mind and body into alignment with each other. Most commonly this is done through the physical practice (known as the asanas) but fundamental approaches also include breath-work (pranayama) and meditation. Building off the success of our past events, this class will brings all of these together in a comprehensive, immersive experience.

Agenda

The event will open with kirtan chanting led my Mikhael to bring everyone into the present moment and set the energy for the group. Kristen will then guide us through a physical practice while Mikhael provides music to carry us through. This will be followed by a breath-work session from Brian.

Facilitators

Brian Kolasinski: Event organizer and breath-work session

After practicing various types of yoga for over 15 years I decided to take my own practice deeper by studying at a Gurukulam in Mysuru, India and obtaining teacher certifications in both Ashtanga and Vinyasa. Yoga for me has provided an amazing combination of being an athletic endeavor with the unique benefit of also being able to help slow thinking and bring it back to center. Samyoga was founded as a vehicle to offer the foundational practices of yoga to more people by making them accessible while paying respect to the traditions of their roots.

Kristen Boyle: Physical practice

Kristen is an innovative and imaginative yoga teacher and yoga therapist. In her over two decades of experience she has led numerous teacher trainings, mentored teachers, run workshops, and worked privately with clients. Kristen uses impeccable alignment cues to help bring practitioners fully into their body and breath, allowing them to experience the present moment connection to self, and source: This Body, This Breath. This Moment.

Mikhael Arcane: Kirtan chanting and music throughout the practice

A Sound Alchemist for over 30 years, Mikhael has studied, performed, and composed within a wide variety of musical styles and instruments. Offering a musical journey colored by modern, classical, folk, Indian, Middle Eastern, and Latin influences, Mikhael transports listeners to sacred and mysterious spaces in exploration of light and dark though the vibration of sound. A deep relationship with tone and rhythm can be felt in his energy and expression. Whether playing handpan, guitar, singing bowls, percussion, or DJ’ing, Mikhael provides a captivating experience that evokes a spectrum of emotion and sensation.
