A Journey Through Time and Space with Astrophysicist Luke Huxley
Tonight, Luke Huxley is our experienced guide to the cosmos. We dive into the
ancient art of reading the night sky to measure the passage of time—a practice as
old as humanity itself. From stars that trace the months to the rhythmic dance of
the planets and phases of the moon, Luke reveals techniques you can use to
connect with the natural cycles above. Beyond learning to track time, this talk
stretches our perspective of space to the unimaginable scale of the universe. As we
scale from our planet to the farthest reaches of the cosmos, we encounter an
astronomical story from an observatory—that might just change your life and daily
routines forever.
Luke Huxley
Luke Huxley was born in Denver, and has spent his life under the inspiring skies of
the Rocky Mountains. With a degree in physics and astrophysics from the University
of Colorado, he started his career by diving into research on active galactic nuclei.
But it was working at renowned observatories in Western Australia that sparked
his passion for astronomy education and storytelling. After returning to the U.S.
inspired, Luke realized there was an opportunity in Colorado to bring the magic of
the cosmos to those eager to connect with the universe and founded
AstroTours.org. Today, Luke combines his scientific background with his
experiences to create unforgettable stargazing adventures, welcoming people to
discover the night sky.
